Medical Director Cardiovascular Medicine

Henry Ford Jackson Hospital is seeking to employ a Medical Director Cardiovascular Medicine, under the Henry Ford Allegiance Medical Group. This is a full-time position, with clinical duties being .9 FTE and the administrative director time commitment is anticipated that Physician shall provide administrative services for approximately 4 hours per week, representing 0.1 FTE.

This position will report to the Henry Ford System Chief of Cardiovascular Medicine ("Chief") in close partnership with the Henry Ford Allegiance Medical Group (Jackson) CEO and Cardiovascular dyad leadership (Regional Director).

Operational Responsibilities

1. Be accountable for the effective operation of the patient care services within your area(s) of responsibility, including adherence to Medical Group policies and guidelines with respect to productivity, professional behavior, quality of care, patient satisfaction, internal customer satisfaction, and other performance indicators.

2. The Medical Director, in collaboration with the Chief, HFAMG CEO and local cardiovascular dyad, shall be responsible for managing provider (physicians, APPs, and ancillary clinical staff, as applicable) scheduling assignments, call coverage obligations and scheduling/approval of vacation and CME days off for providers, in accordance with existing policies.

3. Work closely with providers, administrative, and nursing partners to ensure that all clinical work achieves optimal performance. Including consistent workflows and outcomes.

4. Work closely with administrative partners to understand financial performance and achieve budgeted targets.

5. Review, in collaboration with the Chief, HFAMG CEO and local cardiovascular dyad leader, physician wRVU dashboards to ensure targets met.

6. Develop, implement, and assure adherence to quality standards, improvement programs, and practice consistency in cooperation with the Chief, HFAMG CEO and local cardiovascular dyad leader.

7. Works with Chief, HFAMG CEO and local cardiovascular dyad leader to set ambulatory incentive metrics.

8. Exercise general supervision over all clinical operations performed in the building(s).

9. Exercise general supervision over space allocation within the building(s).

10. Appointment to committees/teams as necessary.

Professional Staff/Human Resources Management Responsibilities

1. Provide regular and timely communication to providers in the clinic through regularly scheduled group meetings, 1:1 meeting, and written communications.

2. Provide mentorship, coaching and professional development to providers in the clinic.

3. Responsible party to address any RL's submitted at medical practice/clinic level.

4. In association with the Chief, HFAMG CEO and local cardiovascular dyad leader, address performance concerns following Medical Group policies.

5. Provide necessary written feedback to the Chief to be included in provider performance reviews. And participate in annual performance reviews of providers at the site of responsibility.

6. Make recommendations to the Chief, HFAMG CEO and local cardiovascular dyad leader, as appropriate, regarding performance and strategic issues.

7. Act as presiding officer and conduct in collaboration with Chief, HFAMG CEO and local cardiovascular dyad leader regular operational, strategic service meetings and provider meetings within your area(s) of responsibility.

8. Participate on appropriate Henry Ford Health System, Henry Ford Physician Network, and Henry Ford Allegiance Medical Group committees.

9. Works collaboratively with the Chief of Cardiology at the local hospital.

Additional Duties

1. Participate in Heart and Vascular Service Line strategic planning and supervise/support implementation of strategies and tactics.

2. Report to the Chief and perform duties as may be requested from time to time in support of regional leadership.

3. Interface as needed with external organizations, joint venture partners, and the community to promote the organization.

4. Provide oversight for the service recovery and patient complaint process with direct involvement as necessary to achieve closure.

5. With oversight from HVSL leadership, and in conjunction with Chief, responsible for physician recruitment and retention initiatives within your area(s) of responsibility.
