About the Opportunity

DMI (Digital Management, LLC.) is looking for a z/OS Sysplex Automation Operations Specialist to support our client in D.C.

The z/OS Sysplex Automation Operations Specialist is responsible for automating operator's command procedures, automating startup and shutdown of z/OS and z/OS components, automating the startup and shutdown of subsystems and automating the recovery of components that failure.

Duties and Responsibilities:

    Analyzing Operation's command procedures and recommending automation solution under Tivoli System Automation (SA) for z/OS.
  • Planning, configuring, customizing, and implementing SA z/OS processor operations to monitor and control functions within the Data Center's logical partitions.
  • Planning, configuring, customizing and implementing SA z/OS processor operations to monitor and control z/OS and z/OS subsystems.
  • Planning, configuring, and implementing XCF communication within SAplex.
  • Planning, configuring, and implementing system operations to monitor and control applications and subsystems such as NetView, SDSF, JES, RMF, TSO, CICS, DB2, TWS, and WebSphere, etc.
  • Planning, configuring, and implementing the basic control program (BCP) interface to allow the sysplex wide activation or deactivation of the coupling facilities and to control sysplex members leaving the sysplex.
  • Planning, configuring, and implementing REXX execution environment in SA.
  • Planning, configuring, and implementing centralize monitoring and controlling of all systems in the sysplex.
  • Planning, configuring, customizing, implementing SA z/OS customization dialog to allow creation of SA Policy.
  • Planning, configuring, implementing, and activating SA Policy that automates startup and shutdown of the Data Center's information systems.
  • Planning, configuring, implementing, and activating within SA Policy all Data Center applications. An application is a z/OS subsystem or job that runs on a system in the Data Center.
  • Planning, configuring, and implementing SA z/OS focal point system to Operation a single view of the status of application in the sysplex.
  • Planning, installing, and implementing, an automation facility such as IBM's Tivoli System Automation for z/OS.
  • Automating an application dependent on the availability of resources or events.
  • Automating z/OS Sysplex IPLs.
  • Automating responses to messages.
  • Customizing NetView facilities to support automation.
  • Customizing z/OS Parmlib members to support message suppression.
  • Performing basic problem isolation and problem determination tasks.
  • Customizing System Automation facility to support operation requirements.
  • Customizing System Automation in a multi-image and Sysplex environment.
  • Customizing software components of data mirroring solutions which will provide
  • Continuous Operation and High Availability of the communication processes used to ensure data is moved from the local site to distant target locations.
