Job Description
General Purpose of Job:
To provide appropriate preventative and post-injury treatment to athletes. Work in a safe manner consistent with safety policies.
Essential Duties:
This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Caregivers may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.
- Complies with governmental standards and regulations.
- Maintains accurate documentation of student-athlete evaluation and treatment.
- Works with the school system to assess the athlete's level of functioning and progress including range of motion measurements; recommends changes to the treatment plan of care and/or discharge as appropriate.
- Instructs athlete on proper home exercise program and use of rehabilitative equipment.
- Order and maintain High School Athletic supplies and equipment.
- Maintains communication with other health care professionals to facilitate quality patient care; reports abnormal physiological changes.
- Assist athletic director with maintaining sports physicals forms.
- Perform wrestling skin-fold assessments, alpha weigh-ins and serve as the nutrition liason for the wrestling program, if requested.
- Participate in the parent/student athlete "Meet the Team" meeting.
- Refers patient to other hospital services when appropriate.
- Performs appropriate ATC duties as directed.
- Attends staff meetings and in-service programs as required.
- Supports and serves as a role model for our mission, vision, values, and customer service initiatives. Adheres to the organization's policies & procedures, and compliance guidelines.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
General Requirements | * Current BOC certification as an Athletic Trainer * Current State of Michigan Licensure as an Athletic Trainer. * Current BLS certification |
Work Experience | * Three (3) years clinical sports medicine experience * Three (3) years AT experience in a high school or college |
Education | * Graduate of an accredited Athletic Training Program |
Specialized Knowledge and Skills | * Interpersonal skills to effectively and appropriately communicate with parents, student athletes, team physicians, coaches, athletic director, patients, families, and other healthcare associates. * Demonstrate excellent verbal, written and oral communication skills. * Demonstrates professional appearance. * Mental ability to adapt and respond to multiple priorities and demands, deal with the concerns of athletes and their families, and handle pressures related to emergency situations. |
