Role Summary:
Reporting to the Services Manager, the Service Technician will be responsible for field service and valve repair. While specific daily tasks can vary depending on the current workload, service activities include: Instrumentation startup, configuration and documentation, calibration, trouble shooting, installation review, and problem solving solutions or systems. Valve repair activities include: evaluation and repair of automated and control valves, assembling new automated and control valves, and traveling to customer locations to provide service in the field. Formal technical training from our Manufacturer's will be a part of the required activities, which will certify your ability to competently work on instrumentation and other equipment.
Exciting work you will do:
The essential duties and responsibilities of the Service Technician position may consist of some or all, and are not limited to, the following:
  • Valve or Instrumentation start-up, configuration and documentation, calibration, trouble shooting, installation review and problem solving solutions or systems, and repair
  • Confirm with field service customers work scope, tool requirements, and site time to accomplish work
  • Respond and provide service in the field as needed and required
  • Assemble and test automated and control valves
  • Assemble product to specific drawings and standards
  • Certification of backflow preventer test kits
  • Technical training from Manufacturer's
  • Schedule workorder assemblies with salespeople and shipments with the shipping department
  • Basic wiring of switches, solenoids, position indicators, and control devices
  • Read job blueprints
  • Participate in safety initiatives as assigned
  • Maintain quality and quantity performance and production standards
  • Utilize database programs, Work Order Generation and Work Order Updates
  • Operate warehouse equipment including forklifts, hand trucks, crane, etc.
  • Participate in ongoing general housekeeping of shop facilities
  • Follow safe work habits and established safety procedures

What you'll need:
  • Work Experience: Entry Level
  • Education: High School diploma or GED
  • Analytics/Computer Skills: Ability to use Excel, Word and web-based software applications; basic math skills
  • Organization Skills: Excellent work ethic, good verbal, and communication skills; ability to work independently
  • Cross-functional skills: Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Communication Skills: Ability to communicate well with all levels of the organization and customers; know when to request assistance when appropriate, especially when lifting heavy objects

Qualifications we prefer but don't require:
  • Work Experience: 1 year experience in valve automation, instrumentation maintenance
  • Certificate: Certification in the operation of a forklift truck, CDL license
