Your role:

Your mission is to respond to scheduled and emergency customer site support of Henrob Self-Pierce Riveting, SCA Dispensing, K-Flow Flow Drill systems, and Atlas Copco Machine Vision systems and provide support to increase the productivity and quality of Atlas Copco systems.


As Field Service Validation Engineer, you will report to the Global Service Department.

What you will do:
  • Drive the Installation and commissioning of IAS systems at the customer site.
  • Plan and execute the conversion of existing systems to newly developed technology and improve both pre- and post-installed Atlas Copco equipment,
  • Optimize the software and hardware functionality of customer applications & processes in-plant
  • Setup and Parameterization of IAS systems, including K-Flow, SPR, and ADH with Vision
  • Commissioning and ramp-up support
  • Provide SME-level technical support to both customers and Atlas Copco associates.
  • Initial instruction and process support for the customer (remotely and in-plant as required)
  • Process optimization and error analysis at the customer site or virtually as technology permits
  • Documentation and logging of process optimization for onsite actions
  • Effective field service reporting
  • Transparent time recording
  • Efficient reporting to the Project Manager, Team Leader Service, and R&D (Product Company)

  • Completed technical training with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing content
  • State-certified technician or graduate engineer
  • Professional experience as a Field Service Engineer in the EV / MVI (Motor Vehicle Industry) or as part of a Tier 1 / 2 supply chain company for MVI.
  • Specific hands-on experience in adhesive dispensing technology (with machine vision technology for robot guidance and bead inspection)
  • Specific hands-on experience in mechanical joining technologies, specifically Flow Drill Fastening and Self Piercing Rivet setting technologies
  • Experience with PC/PLC-based controls, sensors, pneumatics, and motion systems.
Advanced knowledge:
  • Electrical engineering
  • Process measurement and control technology
  • Signal exchange and signal transit time, including Analog and digital interfaces.
  • Data transmission and communication systems incl. bus-systems (Ethernet IP, EtherCat, ProfiNet, ProfiBus, etc)
  • Safety requirements for CE machine safety directive and IEEE/OSHA standards
  • Manufacturing processes & technologies (Robot programming and use, Hem rolling, Parts fixturing, RSW/ Laser Welding, Metrology, CMM, and Quality testing)
  • MFMEA/ PFMEA, MTBF, and MTTR use cases at MVI customers.
  • Blowfeed, Bowlfeed, Magazine feed, and other material/ fastener handling systems
  • IAS Systems / Tooling certification and validation requirements
  • Fundamental knowledge of SAP
  • 3+ years of experience in onsite management and direct customer & associate interaction at all levels
  • Travel, work conditions
  • Readiness to travel across North America and occasionally China / Europe on business.
  • Willingness to work occasional weekends or temporary shifts.
  • Have or the ability to obtain a valid passport.
