Job Description

General Purpose of Job:

The Capital & Facilities Contracts Specialist role will work under the direction of the Contracts & Value Analysis Manager to
execute the Routine Capital and Facilities purchasing process for Sparrow Health System. The position is responsible for ensuring that all purchases are properly benchmarked, sourced, and negotiated while championing the enforcement of the corresponding Supply Chain Management policies and procedures.

Essential Duties:

This job description is intended to cover the minimum essential duties assigned on a regular basis. Caregivers may be asked to perform additional duties as assigned by their leader. Leadership has the right to alter or modify the duties of the position.

  • Serve as the Supply Chain lead for the Capital purchasing process. Perform benchmarking activities relating to equipment, disposables, and service to ensure that the organization is receiving best in class pricing.
  • Support Finance in the development of the routine capital budgeting process. Maintain a detailed equipment standards list to drive standardization throughout the organization.
  • Act as the Supply Chain lead for all facility projects and purchasing activities. Provide input on project budgeting and maintain the corresponding project tracking. Report all budget shortfalls or overages to maximize the assigned project resources.
  • Issue Request for Proposals on large purchasing initiatives and support the vendor selection process.
  • Perform buying functions for all capital and facilities purchases. Communicate time lines to key stakeholders relating to the arrival of equipment and supplies.
  • Lead the move management activities of all capital and facility projects. Ensure that all deadlines are met while best utilizing Sparrow Health System resources.
  • Strictly enforce the Business Transactions Authorization policy throughout the organization.
  • Coordinate formal business reviews for key vendors. Capture areas of contracting opportunities to drive cost savings opportunities and optimization.
  • Support the professional services contracting process and identify related cost savings opportunities.
  • Lead the Capital Equipment trial process throughout the organization. Ensure that all liability and risk levels are properly assessed and accounted for during the trial process.
  • Support the Value Analysis Program for Sparrow Health System.
  • Develop and facilitate appropriate communication methods with key stakeholders throughout the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements
General Requirements None
Work Experience A minimum of three (3) years of project management related experience to include capital and facility sourcing Five (5) years of project management experience in a professional workplace, preferred. Experience with materials management software systems, preferred.
Education Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain or other Business related field Master's degree in Supply Chain, Project Management, Business Administration or other Business related field, preferred.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills Advanced experience with Microsoft office products such as Excel, Access, Word, and PowerPoint Demonstrated understanding of fundamental supply chain concepts Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills and a professional presence Demonstrated strong customer service skills Demonstrated project management experience Demonstrated ability to work creatively, independently and analytically in a problem-solving environment Demonstrated experience working in a process improvement and change orientated workplace Familiarly with medical terminology and the health care field, preferred Understanding of how business decisions relate to finance, preferred Ability to analyze complex data and make recommendations to leadership, preferred
