HDR has an excellent opportunity in our Michigan operating Area for a professional to lead the development and growth of our Area's Highway & Roads section. The Michigan Highway & Roads Section Lead will be responsible for the operations and growth of the highway & roads section including staff growth, staff development, technical leadership, project management, quality control, strategic planning, marketing support and coordination with other disciplines.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the leadership/operations of the highways & roads section including staff development, profitability, workload, morale, quality control and marketing support.
  • Function as a project manager and production on highway/roadway projects in addition to management responsibilities.
  • Be administratively responsible for the section staff and technical service functions and will lead and coordinate services with other sections.
  • Be involved in marketing planning, proposals and interviews.
  • See that all work is planned, organized, controlled and evaluated through a pro-active project management system.
  • Implement, monitor and support company policy.
  • Experience in the management and development of multi-discipline teams.
  • Work cooperatively with National Directors and marketing in local and national marketing and production efforts.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering
  • PE required
  • 10 years of experience in the various aspects of highway/roadway engineering design
  • Demonstrated ability to market services and develop strong client relationships
  • Experience with Microstation, Geopak, and/or InRoads or other transportation design software packages
  • Microsoft Office experience required
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Demonstrated leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Management experience preferred
  • It is preferred to have experience, relationships, and demonstrated success working with MDOT and other transportation agencies in the Michigan market
  • Preference given to local Southeast Michigan area residents
