Job Description

Provides regularly scheduled pickups and deliveries at physician offices, hospital entities and affiliates, the post office, local banks and other sites as requested.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides delivery and pick up of all equipment, supplies and patients to and from
physician offices, hospital entities and affiliates, the post office, local banks and other
sites as requested.

Delivery Service Vehicle Operation
1. Operates hospital vehicle to deliver patients, specimens, supplies, mail, bank
materials, meals, linens and other materials in a manner consistent with
departmental policies, procedures, standards, and benchmarks.
2. Maintains basic vehicle fluid levels such as gasoline, oil, water, and coolant; refill as
needed.
3. Maintains clean interior and exterior of vehicle
4. Checks mechanical and safety items such as lights, mirrors, tires, brakes and wipers
for defects.
5. Performs minor vehicle repairs and advises Manager of major repairs when needed.
6. Maintains vehicle maintenance log of daily activities and submits data to Manager
for reporting purposes.

Pick-up and Delivery
1. Coordinate all pick-ups and deliveries to minimize delivery time and distance.
2. Loads and unloads all specimens, supplies, mail, etc. at designated locations.
3. Transports hospital personnel and/or patients as required.
4. Maintains pick-up and delivery log of daily activities and submits data to Manager for
reporting purposes.
5. Arranges and secures load with restraining devices and protective pads.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
  • Excellent driving record.
  • Ability to negotiate through a variety of road conditions, including poor weather and occasionally heavy traffic.
  • Ability to load laundry carts and heavy boxes on to truck.
  • Ability to exercise tact, diplomacy and courtesy in dealing with the staff of physician's offices, patients, visitors, and personnel.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED:

  • Valid State of Michigan Driver's license and Chauffeur's license.
